Most privacy policies are written to protect the company. This one is written so you can actually read it. Here is what we collect, who can see it, and what we will never do.

Your medication list belongs to you. We store it so you can show it to the people you choose. We don't sell it, we don't show you ads, and nobody sees it without your say-so. You can download it or delete it whenever you like.
Your name, phone number or email, and the health information you add: medications, doses, allergies, your pharmacy, emergency contacts, and any photos you take of pill bottles or documents. If a family member helps manage your list, we collect their name and contact information too.
If you choose to link your Medicare account, we receive your prescription history from Medicare — only after you approve it on Medicare's own website, and you can disconnect it any time. If your pharmacy partners with KnownMeds and you approve the connection, we receive your prescription records from that pharmacy.
The basics needed to run the app: your device type and app version, and error reports if something breaks. We do not track your location, read your contacts, or scan anything on your phone beyond the photos you choose to take.
Only to run KnownMeds for you: showing your list, printing your wallet card, powering your emergency card, sending the reminders you asked for, and letting the family members you invited see or manage your list. If we ever want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask you first — in plain words, with a real choice.
We never sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
We never show you ads, and no advertising company receives anything about you from us.
We never share your health information without your permission — except if the law requires it (for example, a valid court order), and then only the minimum required.
Family members you invite (you decide whether they can just view, or also help manage). Anyone you physically hand your phone or printed list to, like a doctor at an appointment.
Your emergency card shows responders your name and age, medications, allergies, and one emergency contact. Nothing else — no address, no insurance details, no notes. The card only works while the switch in Settings is on.
If you link a pharmacy, they can see refill activity related to their own prescriptions, so they can help you stay on track. They do not see medications you filled elsewhere unless you choose to show them.
A small number of our staff and service providers (like the company that hosts our secure servers) can access systems that hold your data, under strict confidentiality agreements, only to operate and support the service. They are never allowed to use your information for their own purposes.

View everything we have about you, any time.
Download your complete list as a file or a printable page. It's your information — it travels with you, not us.
Correct anything that's wrong, yourself or with a family member's help.
Delete individual items or your whole account. When you delete your account, your health information is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except the minimal records the law requires us to keep.
Turn off text reminders (or just reply STOP), switch off your emergency card, remove a family member's access, or disconnect your Medicare or pharmacy link — each takes one tap and works immediately.
Colorado residents: these controls are also how we honor your rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, including access, correction, deletion, and portability. To exercise any right by email instead, write to hello@knownmeds.com. If we ever decline a request, we'll explain why and how to appeal.
We only text or call you if you checked the box asking us to, and only for what you asked for — like refill reminders. Never marketing. Reply STOP to any text to end them immediately. Message and data rates from your phone company may apply.
Your information is encrypted when it travels and when it's stored, on secured servers in the United States. Access inside our company is limited to the few people who need it, and every access is logged. No system on earth is perfectly secure — so if a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you promptly and plainly: what happened, what information was involved, and what we're doing about it, as required by federal breach notification rules.
When you add your own information to KnownMeds, federal HIPAA rules don't apply to it — instead, we're accountable to the Federal Trade Commission's health privacy rules, and to the promises on this page. When a partner pharmacy shares your records with us, that data is protected under HIPAA through a formal agreement with your pharmacy. Either way, our promises to you are the same.
KnownMeds is built for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if we learn we have, we'll delete it.
KnownMeds is operated by KnownMeds LLC, a Utah limited liability company. If you have a question about this page, want a copy of your information, or want everything deleted, write to hello@knownmeds.com and a person will answer you. If we ever decline a request, we will tell you why and how to ask us to look again.
If we ever change what we collect or who can see it, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect and ask for your permission again where the law or plain decency requires it. We'll never weaken the promises in the box above.
